Thumb tacks

August 15, 2007

I was thinking about thumbtacks that are small x shaped instead of nail shaped.  when pressure is applied the thumbtack with the added support due to this design would not bend in the middle as a lot of cheap thumbtacks tend to do.  this would leave a small x in the wall but would be made up of small strips of metal much like a razor blade.

I have an interview tomorrow I hope it goes ok.  But I was thinking It would be great if there was a program that you could put your activities for the day on it and would calculate what would be good for your meals taking in account the energy you needs as well as the time limits you may have on certain busy days.

I have this idea for pockets that are self closing via body heat power or solar.  They consist of a type of pull sting around the front and back of the mouth of the pocket.  stiff Plates could be added to the front and the back to keep the pockets flat and could have a manual closing method.  The pull strings would me small in diameter and would consist of a loop on one end and the other end goes though the loop and it wound up via a small motor.

Wow Water!

August 12, 2007

As I sit here, I hear a thumping of a faucet not turned off all they way.  I start to think how this problem should be solved.  A small wheel placed in the faucet would generate a small charge powering a small cap that in return closes a valve to stop the water if left on for too long.  It should also include an override switch and a motion detector to note when someone is still using the water.  This could also be ran straight to wall power when installed to work without the water pressure,  The device then could double as an motion activated sink.  This would reduce water usage when brushing teeth or doing the dishes the good old fashion way with elbow grease.

Sun glasses!

August 11, 2007

These sun glasses are great.  They have two pieces of polarized glass on each eye.  the bottom one is stationary and the top ones can turn causing you to be able to turn the tint up and down.  This would make for an interesting pair of glasses.

Fun in the dark!

August 10, 2007

I would have posted sooner but the internet died most likely due to the killer storm we had.  Anyhow Today I was thinking of a shake light powered kaleidoscope.  This would be relatively simple in design just a while led with a diffusing filter then the kaleidoscope.  This would also work well with a view-master.  Hmm they probably owe me money right now lol!

Smart power.

August 9, 2007

I was thinking about the amount of electricity people use on a daily basis when things are not on like the tv etc.  Why not have power strips that when it notices your electronic is not drawing power as it was will switch to a low current (a lot less power)  until it notices a suction of power to the device again.  It will then increase the power back to the tipical outlet amount (variable by country).  Another way this could be done is have small rechargeable batteries or caps in the television that will keep the power switch by remote on until the power is turned back on eliminating the consumption of power by a tv when off waiting for remote signal.  yes it could be other things beside the television.
