Smart power.

I was thinking about the amount of electricity people use on a daily basis when things are not on like the tv etc.  Why not have power strips that when it notices your electronic is not drawing power as it was will switch to a low current (a lot less power)  until it notices a suction of power to the device again.  It will then increase the power back to the tipical outlet amount (variable by country).  Another way this could be done is have small rechargeable batteries or caps in the television that will keep the power switch by remote on until the power is turned back on eliminating the consumption of power by a tv when off waiting for remote signal.  yes it could be other things beside the television.
